About Nicole Calvento

Nicole Calvento is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who received her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in California State University, Northridge (2015). Nicole then entered Tarzana Treatment Centers to begin her journey as a clinician, and worked with a diverse population. Nicole has worked closely with individuals with dual diagnosis, and assisted her clients in developing better management/finding alternative coping skills for their substance use. Nicole has also enjoyed working with transitional age youths from Alliance Community Empowerment (ACE), where she has helped create a safe space for students and assist them in recognizing their remarkable resilience. Other specialties that Nicole has includes depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and personal development.

Some of Nicole's certification includes Seeking Safety and Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. 

One of Nicole's goals is to be able to de-stigmatize the view of mental health in the Filipino community. Nicole would love to educate her community about the resources that they can utilize in taking good care of the state of their emotions, and that seeking for help is something that they should not be ashamed of. Nicole is also fluent in Tagalog.

Nicole believes in the importance of authenticity, thus she provides a safe space for individuals to be their genuine selves. She is compassionate, non-judgmental, believes in the importance of humor, and a cheerleader of her client's life journey. Nicole utilizes approaches including cognitive behavioral, solution focused, humanistic, and psychodynamic therapies, but is overall eclectic and molds her sessions based on what would best benefit her clients. Nicole also likes to utilize mindfulness techniques with her clients including breathing techniques and guided meditations.
